Kathy Griffin is an “acerbic, razor-tongued, take-no-prisoners comedian” who has built a career for herself as a talented actress and standup performer. She is known and loved around the world for “mercilessly skewering and taking potshots at worthy targets” such as fellow celebrities and comedians. Born and raised in the Chicago area, Kathy Griffin improvised elaborate stage and comedy acts at just five years old. And after studying acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute in Southern California, she joined the star-studded sketch comedy troupe the Groundlings alongside heavyweights like Lisa Kudrow, Julia Sweeney, and Will Ferrell.
After the Groundlings, Kathy Griffin developed and honed a solo standup act that opened several doors for her as a skilled actress, including features on Shakes the Clown, Pulp Fiction, and Seinfeld. She even starred in 1996’s The Cable Guy directed by Ben Stiller, as well as 1999’s Muppets from Space. It wasn't long before Kathy Griffin started creating her own material, with the comically charged reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List and numerous comedy albums including 2010's Kathy Griffin Does the Bible Belt, 2011's 50 and Not Pregnant, and 2012's Seaman 1st Class.
