When a band celebrates the anniversary of an album, fans can definitely look forward to hearing the work in its entirety. The Breeder’s 1993 effort Last Splash was a career-defining work that brought them into the charts. The sophomore album entered the Billboard 200, peaking at number 33. Meanwhile, it also entered the charts in other countries, making it the band’s biggest international hit. Last Splash, which spawned highly-acclaimed singles “Cannonball,” “Divine Hammer,” and “Saints,” later sold over one million copies in the U.S. - making it the band’s biggest-selling effort to date. For an independent band like The Breeders, this was a noteworthy achievement. Apart from making a breakthrough, the album was hailed by many critics as one of the best rock albums of the ‘90s. Pitchfork, Spin, NME, Rolling Stone, and more have listed the album in their ‘Greatest Albums of All Time’ lists. In 2021, Slant Magazine ranked Last Splash at number 46 on their “The 50 Best Rock Albums of the ‘90s.”

After the stellar success of Last Splash, the band dropped their equally brilliant subsequent works, Title TK in 2022, Mountain Battles in 2008, and All Nerve in 2018. They consistently placed within the Billboard 200, as well as performed impressively on the charts in other countries.

This 2023, the album’s 30th anniversary, is anticipated to deliver a wide array of Last Splash staples. Aside from the surefire crowd pleasers “Cannonball,” “Divine Hammer,” “Saints,” and their show opener, “No Aloha,” fans may also be up for some surprises and never-performed-before tracks. For newfound fans of the Breeders, they can also look forward to later hits, such as “Walking With a Killer,” “Metagoth,” “I Just Wanna Get Along,” and many more. Apart from their original tracks, The Breeders have been known to deliver some iconic covers during their shows.

Until this day, the Last Splash remains highly relevant among indie rock music lovers, which is why the band continues to amass a new loyal following despite not releasing a new album since 2018. The Breeders recently made waves during their appearance at Coachella Music and Arts Festival and Innings Festival this spring. Last year, they also appeared in notable music events, such as the VetsAid, The Outlandia Festival, and Summerfest.

Celebrate the 30th anniversary of Last Splash with the Breeders this October by securing tickets to their show at the Wiltern! Tickets are now up for grabs!
