Roisin Murphy’s upcoming mini-tour in the U.S. will hit only three key cities: Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York. Since emerging in 1994, Murphy has been steadily on the rise to stardom. She’s now regarded as one of the top electro-pop artists in Ireland and beyond. With her hefty dates in Europe and a couple of select dates in the U.S., Murphy is on the verge of making a North American breakthrough. And with her highly-anticipated upcoming studio album produced by world-renowned music producer DJ Koze, she’s ready to take over the U.S. market very soon.
In an interview, Murphy described her happiness with the upcoming effort. "It’s a joyful record. I’ve never been happier, that is partly down to personal reasons but also in my work I’ve been very fulfilled. For me, the record is about love and sensuality, but also it’s about the music itself and how it’s always been there for me. There are tinges of darkness, of the abyss, as well as all the joy. There’s contemplation of mortality which is meant to serve as reminder to me (and perhaps you the listener) to really live while we can.” Hit Parade has already been preceded by singles “CooCool,” “The Universe,” and “Fader.” Fans can look forward to hearing these tracks performed live at the Wiltern as Murphy debuts the album for the first time on stage this 2023.
Aside from songs from her new album, Murphy will also perform hit songs from earlier releases. Before Hit Parade, the Mercury Music Prize nominee released five highly-regarded studio albums. She dropped her debut effort, Ruby Blue, in 2005, which spawned iconic tracks “If We’re in Love” and “Sow Into You.” By 2007, Murphy had made her European breakthrough when her singles “Overpowered” and “Let Me Now” entered the charts in various countries, including the U.K.
By 2008, Murphy was finally able to establish a strong presence in her home country, Ireland, with the single “You Know Me Better.” That same year, she released “Movie Star,” which made her debut on the Billboard charts. All these chart-performing hits are featured in Murphy’s sophomore and best-selling effort, Overpowered.
