The English, London-based alt-pop duo is comprised of Anthony Vander West (né West) and Josephine Vander West (née Vander Gucht). Back in September 2014, they released one song per month which later took shape as their self-titled debut album in September 2015. A week after its release, they played sold-out nights in London, New York, Los Angeles, and Paris, marking the beginning of nonstop tours. Since then, they've played shows and music festivals around the globe.
It all began when Josephine was playing solo gigs as LAYLA, and met Anthony at one of her shows in 2010. A year later, she dropped by one of Anthony's shows, talked, and began writing songs. The stars seemed to align, and their musical chemistry took flight.
In a feature by Atwood Magazine, the pair revisited their debut record, "looking back we made them with one keyboard, one microphone and barely any idea what we were doing," they shared in a statement. "Since then, we’ve sung those songs hundreds of times on stage, and now they somehow mean even more to us."
Re-recoeding the album in 2015, reimagining every track with a studio, more instruments, and a complete production, it's their first album... "10 Years On".
"Hopefully it’ll sound like you’re listening to your favourite song, but with a brand new pair of headphones on."
While they served a spruced-up versions of every track, the band's 10th anniversary shows for "Songs At The Piano" see them take a step back, reflect, and share these beautiful melodies on the keys. In its purest form, these emotional hits will definitely embrace your souls.
