WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

“I graduated in 2008, with a degree in finance… And that was about the funniest thing you could do at the time,” he shared with Michigan Daily. 

As an escape, he took comedy by heart, and started pursuing it as a full-time career. From juggling a job during day and sleepless stand-up nights at The Stress Factory, he steadily grew a following—becoming a regular and attracting a legion of fans. In 2015 when he was doing standup at Greenpoint, he was discovered by the one and only Chris Rock—taking him in to be part of his team of writers for his 88th Academy Awards performance. 

That point marked his rapid rise in the comedy game. Later on, he became a finalist in Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Network Pitch Panel, taken on as a writer for Hasan Minhaj's 2017 White House Correspondents' Association appearance, and thus his biggest break as a full-time writer for SNL. Focused on Weekend Update, his work caught the public’s attention, and received an Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Writing” on SNL.
