Metric is composed of singer Emily Haines, guitarist James Shaw, bassist Joshua Winstead, and drummer Joules Scott Key. In 2003, the band released their highly-acclaimed debut album, Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? via Last Gang Records and Everloving Records. After their debut, the band released three more albums with critical acclaim. However, it wasn’t until the release of their fourth album that the band started to gain some momentum in the mainstream scene. Released in 2009, Fantasies peaked at number 6 on the Canadian charts.

The band’s fifth album, Synthetica, performed even better on the charts. It peaked at number 2 on the Canadian charts, and it debuted at number 12 on Billboard 200 charts, making it their first record to enter the top 20 in the U.S. The album featured the single “Youth Without Youth,” and the track “Speed Collapse,” which was featured in FIFA 13’s soundtrack. Metric’s 2015 and 2018 albums, Pagans in Vegas and Art of Doubt, are also met with critical acclaim, and both peaked at number 5 on the Canadian chart.

This 2022, the band is slated to release their eighth studio album, Formentera. Metric recently dropped the first single, “All Comes Crashing,” giving the fans a much-awaited glimpse into the album. For the band’s show at the Wiltern, fans can anticipate more tracks from Formentera. Moreover, Haines guarantees that material from their older albums will also be performed. “We’re crafting a setlist based on fan favorites, including deep cuts from Live It Out and Old World, and it’s been wild to see how the new songs from Formentera flow with the classics from Fantasies and Synthetica,” says Haines.
