Okay so like — if you don’t already have your ticket to Lovejoy at The Wiltern for this November on Saturday the 8th, We really don’t know what to tell you. Actually, we do — do anything, AKA beg, borrow, cry, or steal (jk… well maybe) - do whatever you need to do to get tickets for the show. Because this night is going to be an indie rock exorcism right when the doors open up on that breezy November night. You already know what it is. Four years ago they were just some British boys in skinny jeans messing around in a Brighton living room with a mic and a dream (and a parasocial online fanbase watching very closely). Now they’ve got a full-blown album (One Simple Trick), a global cult following, and a live show that feels as if your group chat started a band and then learned how to make actual bangers. It’s loud, they’re messy, they make us sweaty, and it’s everything we ever asked for with a live show.

Lovejoy’s whole thing? It’s heartbreak in 4/4 time. It’s yearning with a tempo. Wilbur’s singing like he just found out his ex got engaged AND deleted the playlist he made her. Joe’s guitar is crying in lowercase. Ash and Mark hold the whole thing down with drums and basslines that sound like they were pulled straight outta the golden age of Tumblr playlists and garage show pits. It’s got the jittery magic of early Arctic Monkeys, the anxiety of your Notes app, and the kind of group dynamic that feels like they’d high-five after a song and then fight each other in the parking lot after the encore. In other words: perfect. They’ve come a long way since Pebble Brain. The songs have leveled up without losing the twitchy, post-breakup energy. The fans scream every word. And the vibe?
