Inspired by her musician parents, Emily King left school at the age of 16 to seek out a career as a singer. In those early days, she honed and fine-tuned her craft in restaurants and other small venues. The breakthrough to stardom came in 2004 after signing her first record deal with J Records and performing with the legendary hip hop star Nas' on his album Street's Disciple.
Emily King released her first album, "East Side Story," in 2007 and was immediately nominated for the Grammys. She then spent years touring the US and the world as a support act for many top-class artists such as Alicia Keys, Chaka Khan, John Legend, Maroon 5, and Nas. In 2012 she opened Emeli Sandé's sell-out UK tour, which included five cities and the musical mecca, The Royal Albert Hall.
In 2012, the "Songwriters Hall of Fame" gave Emily King the Holly Prize to recognize her outstanding original work. The award raised her profile to new heights in the world of music. 2015 saw Emily King release her second album called "Switch." The album showcased her skillful vocals, which won many adoring fans.
2019 and 2020 led to the release of the third and fourth albums "Scenery" and "Sides." "Look At Me Now" from "Scenery" was nominated for the Grammys in the Best R&B Song category, while the album itself was up for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. In 2020 she delivered the masterful single "See Me" in response to the racial instability in the United States and, once again, received a Grammy nomination.
