The announcement of emo force Cap’N Jazz returning to the stage comes hot on the heels of the 13th anniversary reissue of their only full-length album Shmap’n Shmazz - and we’re all over it!
Cap'n Jazz's limited-date 30th anniversary tour across North America is slated to descend upon major venues in mid-November 2025 in Denver, Colorado, and taking its bow on 20 November 2025 on your front porch. Initially, Cap’n Jazz was set to rain havoc on the Hollywood Palladium on 21 November 2025, but this specific performance was rescheduled to 20 November 2025 at The Wiltern. The massive comeback-tour also features a mammoth line-up of special guests, including Oklahoma noise rock and sludge metal band Chat Pile, experimental rock band The Red Krayola best known for face-melters such as Hurricane Fighter Plane and Nickle Niceness, Wisconsin emo outfit Rainer Maria, French indie artist Anthony Family, alongside special guest DJ sets by The Blackouts, DJ Country Thyme, Zach Cowie, and DJDMFK.
If there was any doubt about just how trailblazing Cap’n Jazz is - just think of how they served as the inspiration between bands such as Algernon Cadwallader and Scary Kids Scaring Kids, and was also the root of other bands - past member guitarist Davey von Bohlen’s The Promise Ring, vocalist Tim Kinsella’s Joan Of Arc,, drummer Mike Kinsella’s American Football, and current guitarist Victor Villarreal’s Owls.
