“Brooks is the real deal. A master songwriter and an all-around cool dude. His band plays as one cohesive unit, without any cracks.”
Sporting a delectably drunken droll, Brooks Nielsen asserts an ambitiously enigmatic stance in all his musical endeavors, opting to explore the less-traveled roads of psychedelia. In 2022, he officially launched his solo career with One Match Left, a highly rated double vinyl featuring twenty uniquely poetic songs such as “This Old World,” “Miss Cricket,” and “Virgin Lady Luck.” But long before he struck out solo, Nielsen led the self-described “beach goth” band The Growlers since its humble Orange County beginnings in 2006. Their first two records, Are You In or Out? and Hot Tropics, set the tone for the group’s now-iconic sound, which culminated in a critically acclaimed three-album streak from 2013 to 2016: Hung at Heart, Chinese Fountain, and City Club, each climbing to the fourteenth, seventh, and sixth spots of the weekly Billboard Heatseekers charts respectively.
The Wiltern excitedly presents Chinese Fountain’s 10th Anniversary concert by Brooks Nielsen LIVE on Wednesday, February 14! Bearing a classical Art Deco facade, this downtown LA landmark extends its gorgeous architecture to a theater within, featuring an ethereally spotlit and sightlined stage. The venue also supports sharply tuned acoustics so fans can experience the singer’s sound in complete clarity, note by crystal clear note. Seats are now available - book your reservations now!
