Slow Burn Tour

The world-renowned saxophonist, songwriter, and record producer is back on stage for a massive run of shows. Boney James, the Top 3 Billboard Contemporary Jazz Artists of the Decade, is proud to share his newest material alongside his all-time hits and favorites on the "Slow Burn Tour". Currently on the road, he look forward to meeting all of you across the cities he'll be visiting this year.

About Boney James

At the age of ten, James switched over to the saxophone, and became heavily influenced by the R&B Motown genre and the work of the jazz-funk and soul-jazz saxophonist Grover Washington Jr. After graduating from UCLA, he started playing music full-time. He spent years of touring and sessiojns with the likes of The Isley Brothers, Randy Crawford, Bobby Caldwell, and many more icons in the industry.

On the road with Crawford back in 1986, his physique became a joke among a fellow bandmate, "We'll have to start calling you 'Boney' James!" The moniker stuck around, and became his stage name as he found success in his solo career.

From 1992's debut release "Trust" down to his 18th album "Slow Burn", the man's passion has never gone out. To this day, at the age of 63, he's keeping the music alive.

The Legacy Lives On

The four-time Grammy Award nominee has kept the music alive and kicking. In a recent conversation with Billboard, he took the time to discuss his new album "Slow Burn" and his key to a long career in music. Warm and sincere, "those are two things that describe my music. I’m only trying to make records that I love, so I just call it ‘Boney James music."

On Billboard's Smooth Jazz Airplay chart, the man became the first artist to hit twenty #1 singles on the said chart. Surpassing 1 billion streams on Pandora and about 500k monthly listeners on Spotify, it's clear that Jazz aficionados can't get enough of his hearty notes.

"I just turned 63, but I honestly feel 20 and healthier than ever. My enthusiasm for doing this job hasn’t waned at all. I’m still like a kid in a candy store," he shared with Billboard as he's currently on the road.

When it comes to his secret behind career longevity, it's all about the music itself, and pouring his heart on in every record he makes. Looking bqack at his work and his early days playing sessions with various artists, he learned a lot. "It wasn’t just about getting up there, closing your eyes and playing your horn. You want to entertain people. And I learned that from him," talking about working with Day.

Living by these lifelong lessons for years to come, the man won't ever turn his back on music. On tour, get ready to feel the passion in his veins as he unleashes his best pieces yet. If you haven't seen a Boney James show yet, fans and critics alike have shared how life changing it really is.
