The Hu has broken ground ever since they started gaining traction in the U.S. market. The band from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, has taken their culture and traditions and turned into an out-of-this-world folk metal band. The Hu are renowned for their beguiling throat singing, which has been used in their culture for hundreds of thousands of years. Meanwhile, the members are equipped with traditional musical instruments, such as khuur or tovshuur. This new modern heavy metal approach to Mongolia’s traditional music has been called “hunnu rock.” And since the release of The Hu’s debut album, The Gereg, heavy metal fans across the world are profusely banging their heads to this incredible music.

The Hu released their breakout hit “Yuve Yuve Yu” in 2018. The song performed phenomenally on Billboard’s Rock charts, peaking at number 4 on the Mainstream Rock and number 7 on the U.S. Rock Digital Songs chart. The song was quickly followed by another hit, “Wolf Totem,” which topped the U.S. Digital Rock songs and World Digital Song sales chart. “Wolf Totem,” which features Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix gained a massive amount of streams in the U.S. and Canada, eventually earning gold certifications in both countries.

Last year, The Hu released their sophomore effort, Rumble of Thunder. The album dropped via Better Noise and made waves across the international charts. Like its predecessor, the latest album also spawned chart-performing rock hits, such as “This is Mongol” and “Black Thunder.”

The Wiltern will also feature another international act, Asking Alexandria. Hailing from Britain, Asking Alexandria rose to prominence in 2001 upon releasing their sophomore effort, Reckless & Relentless. The album peaked at number 9 on the Billboard 200 and also broke into the charts in the U.K. and Australia. By 2013, the band has achieved an international breakthrough with their third album, From Death to Destiny.

In 2021, Asking Alexandria dropped their latest album, See What’s On the Inside. The album, which spawned the number 1 hit “Along Agag” and top 20 hits “Never Gonna Learn” and “Faded Out,” was met with high acclaim from fans and critics. Earlier this year, the band released a couple of non-album singles, “Dark Void,” “Bad Blood,” and “Psycho.” Since it has been a while since Asking Alexandria dropped an album, these songs are rumored to be a precedent for an upcoming studio effort.
