Impersonating the TV icon for many years now, Ray released his “Dr. Phil Unleashed” special via Netflix last 2024. On the show, he finally meets his inspiration, face-to-face. As Dr. Phil gets confronted by the real Dr. Phil, it’s bound to get wild. From random laugh gags, to stand-up specials, live-stage treks, and finally being confronted by the man himself, Adam Ray has come a long way with his Dr. Phil shenanigans. Becoming an ““advice”-giving, viral sensation” as described by LA Times, audiences just can’t get enough of his crazy Dr. Phil surprises in every show.
It all began in 2019 when he started performing his Dr. Phil impersonations. Gaining massive attention with the character he’s embraced with the help of some prosthetics, Ray developed himself as “a late-night version of a daytime guy,” he shared with Deadline. Gaining massive attention, production deals came chasing him left and right. At a point, Ray became surprised to hear from representatives of Dr. Phil that the man himself is not only aware of what he’s been up to, but actually approves of his content in the funny business.
“But I knew my intentions were always good. I wasn’t defaming him. I’m not up there saying really nasty s**t. I’m not taking what he’s doing out there in the public eye and putting it in the show; it’s a completely different version,” he told Deadline.
