Leon Thomas has burst on the scene as one of the more promising solo acts in R&B. His recent apperance at the BET Awards certainly confirmed his arrival! Fans of his from his Nickelodeon days though, will tell you the talent has always been there. At this stage in his career he can not only sing with the best of them, but bring a soulful vibe to the stage that many long-time fans of the genre claim has been missing from "new" performers.
His Mutts Don't Heel tour has a two-night stop at the Wiltern in LA. This Monday December 22nd show is going to be the first one of the two. The holiday season is very much a time to nurture the soul, and Leon Thomas' music has a way of doing that. If you're looking for something to do during a time of the year when we see mostly empty streets and lazy Mondays, this concert could be exactly what you're looking for. Leon Thomas is one of the few remaining Renaissance men in the world of music! After the massive success of his 2024 Mutt album, he's finally getting the place in the music industry that he deserves. If you take a stroll through his career path, you're going to realize that this big break in music came "late" into his career. It's not for a lack of talent; it's just that the man's been busy! In his early years, he crafted a decent footprint in kids' shows, particularly with Nickelodeon. Then he was part of The Rascals, and he did Broadway with The Lion King. That's why the Renaissance man label certainly fits! Here's to hoping he sticks around as a solo act for a long time because he can bring it to the stage! You're going to see that first hand if you come around to The Wiltern on Monday, December 22nd.
The recent performance by Leon Thomas of his flagship track "Mutt" at the BET Awards provides all you really need to know about this man prior to heading to a live show. If you have a chance to listen to "Yes It Is" or "Treasure in the Hills," that could help you be familiar with at least a few songs from this man before he takes the stage in LA. What really stands out about his shows, though, is that unique vibe that you only get when you have the talent to mix a ton of musical genres with a soulful voice that hits home hard! When you come to watch him live, you're going to be in awe as you realize this man's got the kind of talent that puts other wannabe singers to shame.
If you were expecting the Wiltern to feature its regular seating setup for this one, you're going to be disappointed. The seats on the bottom floors will be removed to create a general admission area that will sit behind the pit. If you want to be really close to the stage, then you know you have to head to the pit. Anyone with a General Admission ticket should arrive early to claim a good spot with a decent view of the show. If you want to have a smooth night with a more comfortable position, then maybe pick a seat in the upper levels!
